Product Update – July 2026
Following June’s successful major release, this KIT product update adds new features and enhancements to simplify user and role administration, speed up navigation, and improve overall system efficiency.
New Audit Data Conflicts functionality
Items can have a legitimate reason for being absent from a Location, such as being on Loan or having a Location Status applied within KIT (e.g. “With Calibration” or “Awaiting Collection”). When the Item is subsequently returned, the User must remember to update the relevant status to accurately reflect its presence, but this doesn’t always happen.
To help maintain data accuracy, Audits can now identify Items recorded as present during an audit while still marked in KIT as “Away” from the Location. If the User has the appropriate permissions, the system will offer the option to return Loan Items or change the Location Status during the Audit process, allowing the Item records to be updated without additional actions.
If the User does not resolve these conflicts, or does not have permission to do so, they can now be reported through a new configurable “Audit data conflicts” alert notification, helping Item and Location Owners keep records accurate and up to date.
Bulk Import of Users
With this product update, the system now supports Bulk Import of Users from a pre-defined spreadsheet template, available from the Users administration page. When an Admin User downloads the template, it is automatically populated with the required columns and any User Roles already defined within the system.
The Admin User can populate the template, assign the required User Roles, and re-import the completed spreadsheet into KIT via the same Users admin page. This saves significant time compared to setting up individual Users.
New visual style for “Away” Items
If the system determines that an Item is legitimately away from a Location, such as being on Loan or having a Location Status other than “Active”, the Item will now appear in the Location View with a different visual style.
“Away” Items are shown with pink horizontal stripes, a unique colour and pattern combination that distinguishes them from existing styles such as “Missing”, “Out of Calibration” or “Issue Reported”. The pattern also makes them identifiable to colour-blind Users.
Zero instance Tools now included on the Tool List
The Tool List now includes all Tools recorded in the system, including those with a physical inventory quantity of zero. This allows Users to identify gaps in their inventory and order replacements as required.
When replacement Items arrive, Users can identify all possible Locations where that Tool would naturally fit, saving manual time spent searching or trying to remember the correct Locations.
Recent Search History
A history capability has been added to KIT’s Search facility, making recent searches easier to repeat. When a User starts typing in the Search field, the system trawls their recent search history and lists the five closest potential matches in real time from their last 100 searches.
This saves time for Users who regularly search for the same Item or Location.
User Role naming validation
In this product update, we have added validation to User Roles to prevent duplicate Role names being created.
If an Admin User tries to add a duplicate User Role, they are warned that the Role name is not unique and cannot save it until they re-name it.
Next Audit Due Date visibility
The Next Audit Due Date is now displayed within the drop-down Audit panel of the View Location screen alongside the details of the last audit that was performed on the Location.
This increases visibility of whether an Audit is due or overdue for that Location, helping prompt Users as to whether they should audit the Location at that time.
