3 decades leading the market
For over 30 years, Coplan has been a trusted partner to global leaders in manufacturing and engineering, designing advanced protective systems and intelligent tool management solutions across sectors including aerospace, automotive, defence, energy, and food processing.
Starting off life as a specialist packaging foam supplier, creating robust protective packaging solutions to enable reliable shipping of high value aerospace components, it soon became clear that protecting components in transit was only part of the challenge.
That’s when Coplan expanded to offer solutions for protecting components and parts during assembly and production, so that when tools were accidentally dropped by production operatives, the high value product was protected.
The obvious next step was then to help organise workers’ tools whilst on the line, so that they always had a place for their tools that could keep them better organised during and at the end of their shift. And thus our shadow board and foam inlays were born. Over the years, the solutions developed to support both production lines on the shop floor and field service teams in their vans and tool boxes.
This decades of experience working with traditional visual tool control and constant collaboration with our customers helped us realise that organisation of tools was not enough to give them confidence. They needed better control and visibility of their tools and this could only come with data and knowing exactly what tools they had in their inventory, so they could manage it more proactively.
And that was how KIT was born; not from a single idea, but from our many conversations with customers, who were suffering tool losses, non-compliance issues in audits and challenges in keeping up with all the paperwork needed to comply wit. They knew there had to be a better way.
So we took that experience of decades of traditional visual tool control and blended it with the latest cloud-based software technology to bring to life a new generation of intelligent inventory management. But did it in such a way as to make sure it was fast and easy to use. And so, KIT was born.
Empowering teams to benefit from the clarity, cost efficiency and control that an only intelligent tool control platform like KIT can provide. But the job is not done yet. Their needs continue to evolce, so we continue to evolve with them.
